Amazing quaint country pub, perfect location to lots of lovely hikes. We had evening meals and breakfast, both were super tasty (particularly the fry up!). The pub is cosy with huge fireplaces. The staff, especially management, were super helpful, friendly and chatty. It's dog friendly too. The rooms were cosy but clean and modern.

What a fantastic find in the Yorkshire Dales, 5 minutes from Hawes, set in beautiful countryside, large free car park, dog friendly. Very olde worlde pub/ hotel, exposed stone throughout the pub, large real fires, 3 Christmas trees, very cosy interior. Large choice of ales, wines and spirits, candles on the tables in the evening, fantastic choice on the menus, great food large portions, the biggest Yorkshire pudding I've ever seen , homemade definitely not Aunt Bessie's. The staff are very, very friendly and welcoming. Function room at the rear of the pub, music on a Saturday evening, recommend booking because it gets really busy, very easy on line booking system, however we tried to contact them before our visit by phone but no one answered, so suggest electronic communication. Unfortunately the weather was not good but several outside tables available, pub was very cosy. Good choice of breakfast, cereals and dried fruit available, also hot selection good choice, but portions not as big as food menus, but well cooked and delicious, eggs fried, scrambled or poached, not many establishments offer this, so congratulations Green Dragon, keep up the excellent work, we plan to return in the new year

Overall we had a lovely stay. The history and atmosphere were excellent for a cozy winter stay (in Feb). Pros: delicious food, nice decor, cozy with fireplaces, great shower. Cons: standard room was quite small and the walls are very thin (you can hear TVs and people talking/snoring). It would be helpful to have some clear instructions for checking in and breakfast e.g. seat yourself, order at bar etc. as it was unclear. Would definitely recommend as a base for exploring the local area or just to stop for a nice meal!

I stayed here back in November 2025 with my good friend James. #1 - The staff were amazing. They really made us feel like family. Special thanks to Lawrence, Sarah, Kit, and one other lady, but I can’t remember her name… but they were all great! Owners of this place should be proud. #2 - The cask ale was fresh and very well kept after. Any cask aficionado will be pleased with their cellars. #3 - The food was perfect! Zero complaints. We got a whole spread of things, ordered maybe 5 different items on the menu. Fish and chips, duck, meat pie, it was all good! #4 - The rooms. Again, zero complaints. My room was perfect! It had everything I needed. Very cozy and comfortable. Clean, and in order. Sarah made sure of that! #5 - We got to chat with some locals, very nice people! A farmer and a local musician! #6 - Don’t trust the bad reviews, these are most likely pretentious people who are rude to the staff, and don’t understand that this is a very old pub with lots of character, and not a modernized “perfect” little degradation to English culture, which a lot of country pubs have turned into. Not this one! Come and see for yourself, this place is charming.

Visited a couple of times over Christmas, what a beautiful pub. Incredible food, and friendly staff. The sort of pub you never want to leave. A 25min, very scenic stroll from Hawes, dog-friendly, and caters for vegetarians (best cheese & onion pie ever, and GF options). An absolute gem, we may have missed if not for our hosts at H.O.H who really rate The Green Dragon-we see why, if you're in the area, visit, you won't regret it.

Have been in Hawes over New Year and visited here twice. Once for a few drinks and another for a meal with family after a big walk. First was walk in and second we booked. I asked for a table in the main area where there is a wonderful range fire, and they delivered !! New Year can be stretching for businesses and staff and found them helpful and attentive, despite a busy period. Dark rooms and the fires created a wonderful atmosphere. We all had a lovely selection of beers and cask ales (Wensleydale Semer Water a fave of mine). Food was as expected and reasonably priced.

All round excellent experience. Spacious room with decent shower, huge tv and comfortable bed. The pub is everything a country pub should be. Open fires, excellent cask ales and well-cooked food. The Kirkstall brewed Green Dragon was absolutely spot on every time. Dog friendly too which was great for us. Staff were great and catered to every need. I hope to return again soon.

Amazing place. Decor was very old in the pub but clean and cozy with lots of fireplaces constantly burning. Rooms were very modern and rustic, also very clean and cozy, with comfortable beds and an amazing shower. Food was well cooked and good price, with some unique dishes you wouldn't get in other pubs. Everything tasted like it was freshly made. Very friendly staff and locals, situated in a picturesque place with lots of hikes nearby
